Big East Basketball

Big game for St. Johns at the Garden yesterday. They took down the #10 ranked Fighting Irish of Notre Dame 71-65 bringing their record to 10-4. Don't expect miracles here. Despite their good record, I don't see the Johnnies having a lot of success in the Big East. But this is a big win for a team trying to find itself. Watching the game, I was pretty impressed with their athleticism.
Also, #3 Pitt was very impressive with a convincing win at #8 Georgetown 70-54. Pitt who is now 14-0 looks like the real deal this year. Pitt is good every year but rarely do I expect much of them tournament time. However, this year might be different for the following reasons:
1. They have a top tier floor general in Levance Fields, a Brooklyn product out of Xaverian High School.
2. They're also very good inside with DeJuan Blair who had 20 points and 17 rebounds this week.
3. They may have the big east player of the year in Sam Young who can score inside and outside.

If they can find some 3 point shooting, watch out.
